How to Take Care of Your Skin after a Laser Hair Removal
After the laser hair removal process, you need to take care of your skin as it will be sensitive for a number of days. Here is what you should do:
  • Use a sunscreen to cover the sensitive skin to avoid sunburns which may make the skin become darker.
  • Do not take a hot shower or get into a steam room for two days. Instead, take a cool bath to avoid irritating the skin.
  • Do not use antibiotic drugs for two weeks after a laser hair removal session. You should not undergo the sessions if you are taking antibiotics either.
  • If you feel any pain around the laser treated area, apply some ice packs and it will cool off the skin making the pain disappear.
  • You should not apply make up on the treated area for one day. If you must use them, you can try the mineral-based makeup that is recommended for this one day.
  • If you intend to work on your underarms, carry out the process in the morning hours before applying deodorant or perfume.
  • Do not schedule for another laser hair removal session for at least five weeks after this session. This will ensure that your skin is fully recovered by the time you are going for another session.
  • If you experience swelling in the treated area, apply aloe era on the skin as it will help in reducing the swelling or reddening. The process should be repeated three times every day until the swelling subsides.
  • If the pain becomes unbearable, use some pain-relieving tablets that can be bought from local drug stores and if you still do not get relief, seek medical help.
  • Do not get into strenuous exercises for two days to avoid irritating the treated skin as it is still too sensitive.
After a laser hair removal session, you should treat your skin as you would a baby’s skin as it is very sensitive. This should be done for two days after which you can go back to your normal routine.
