Procedure of Carrying Out a Facial Treatment
If you have never gone for a facial treatment before, you may wonder what it is all about and this sometimes scares people away. Below is a simple guide showing you what to expect during the facial treatment:
  • Cleansing: to start with, the esthetician will cover your hair using a towel and work on removing any makeup on your face. This will be done using a cream, jelly or lotion which will be rubbed on your face and neck. Warm water will be used to get the cleanser off your skin.
  • Consultation: The esthetician will use moistened pads to cover your eyes and then use a magnifying glass or a lamp to get a good look at your skin. This will help him decide the kind of treatment your skin needs.
After completing the inspection, the esthetician will inform you of his findings and recommend the best form of treatment. You will be given a chance to air your views after which you will both agree on what should be done on the face.
  • Steaming:  Using a warm towel or even a machine for the spas that are advanced in technology, the esthetician will apply a warm steam. This will make the facial muscles to relax and also weaken the blackheads and the whiteheads. As you sweat, the skin pores will be cleared making the skin breath more freely.
  • Exfoliation: Depending on the esthetician, this procedure may be carried out before the steaming, during the steaming or even after the steaming. The products used will be left on the face to aid in treating blackheads.
  • Extraction: As a result of the previous sessions, your face is relaxed and the blackheads, as well as whiteheads, can be extracted without too much pain.
A magnifying glass will be used to help in locating the blackheads and the whiteheads.
  • Massage: After extraction, your face will be massaged to help the muscles relax and stimulate the flow of blood. The esthetician may use a lotion or oil depending on the facial treatment being carried out.
  • Facial mask: the facial mask applied should match your type of skin and will aid in treating any prevailing skin condition. All the conditions that were noted during the consultation stage will all be treated at this stage.
  • Final application: Once the mask is taken off, a cream or a gel will be applied depending on your skin. You will then be advised on the best way to take care of the treated skin.
