sHow to Deal With the Side Effects of Facial Toners
Though the benefits of using facial toners are numerous, there are some side effects that may result from continued use of the toners. Below is a guide on how you will deal with the side effects if they occur:
  • Peeling: After using a facial toner for a while, you may notice some peeling of the facial skin. This is because the toner aids in getting rid of damaged skin so that new, smoother skin can be generated.
If the peeling is too much, you can keep off from using the toner for a few days and within these days, use a non-acidic soap and warm water to wash the face. The peeling should stop after two days, though you will still experience a little peeling.
  • Reddening of the face: if the reddening of the face gets to the extreme, stop using the facial toner for a few days. Ensure that you use a sunscreen lotion on the face to prevent the sensitive skin from sunburn.
  • Stinging of the skin: If you experience stinging on the face after a toner application, change the time you apply it. If you wash your face with soap and water now, wait for two hours before you apply a toner. This will ensure that the skin will have regenerated some of the oils you got rid of after washing the face. The stinging will be less as the skin will not be too dry.
  • Breakouts: At times, you may experience a breakout of pimples after applying a toner especially in the initial stages of applying the toner. This is not a sign to stop using the toner; instead, you should continue applying the toner so that the pimples will dry up and become less visible.
For best results when using a toner and to limit the occurrence of side effects, use only a minimal amount in the morning and in the evening. This will give the skin time to regain some moisture before you reapply a toner. If you do this, you will not have to contend with the side effects.
